What you’re after is the sort of ease that comes from abundance. A table groaning with good things. The kind of spread where everyone can help themselves, coming back for more as the mood takes them.

We rather love this way of entertaining. It has a generosity about it that a plated meal, however beautifully done, simply can’t match. There’s a freedom in it – for you, certainly, but for your guests too. They can nibble and graze, try a bit of this, a bit of that, without feeling they’re being watched or judged.
Your role becomes wonderfully simple. Pour the drinks. Keep the glasses filled. Be there, properly there, not dashing in and out of the kitchen like a headless turkey.
